3 Favorite Famous Cats
Favorite-pets.com’s three top favorite famous cats in three celebrity categories: cat actor, cat in art, and cat in war.
Top Famous Cat in Art: William Lambykins Pit-Woofie Slee, the cat painter. This cat artist is as creative as his name. He is a cat artist extraordinaire. He paints with his paws – wetting them with non-toxic ink and walking over a piece of canvas. He’s painted a number of masterpieces, including Queen Anne’s Lace, Trout Leaping, and his own Self-Portrait. He even took a shot at painting God. William Lambykins Pit-Woofie Slee passed away in 2007. He will be missed.
Top Famous Cat in War: Simon, the ship’s cat. Simon is the only cat to win the Dikins Medal for animal gallantry in war. The crew of the HMS Amethyst found Simon straying on a Hong Kong dockyard and welcomed him aboard. Simon served with the Amethyst during the late 1940s, waging his own war on the ship’s rats and keeping the soldiers entertained. He was wounded in battle when Chinese guns blasted his ship. His life was saved by operation and he returned to his duties. On his tombstone Simon’s credited with behavior “of the highest order.”
Top Famous Cat Actor: Tiki, aka Sassy. Tiki starred as Sassy in Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993). Tiki is a star actress, a lovely Himalayan with a rich, tan coat and a million tricks up her sleeve. In the movie she swims, catches fish, jumps fences, and masterfully interacts with other species on the set. Tiki’s co-stars are both dogs – but she isn’t intimidated. She even tries to rescue one of the dogs from a face full of porcupine quills, gently pulling the dog’s upper lip with her teeth. Cheers to Tiki for her brilliance.
